Music and Raffles Fundraising Event for Camp Promise Retreat in Ohio

May 29, 2024

For the third year in a row, Camp Promise will host an overnight retreat weekend in Ohio for 18+ individuals living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular disorders. Like all Jett Foundation programs, Camp Promise is made possible by donors, sponsors, and generous individuals who fundraise to directly support our programs.

A free summer camp and year-round program for kids, teens, and adults with neuromuscular disorders, Camp Promise will visit seven in-person locations this summer to host retreats and week-long experiences.

One of Jett Foundation’s generous supporters is Stephanie Royster, who lives in Ohio and has attended Camp Promise Retreat – Ohio since its inception. With the help of Ohio’s Camp Promise Director Jackie Becker, Stephanie hosted a fundraising event on April 13, 2024 with friends and family. The afternoon saw live music, good food, exciting raffles, and a Camp Promise specialty drink.

“Camp Promise has had an incredible impact in my life with my confidence, self-esteem, and has provided opportunities to be free from the daily stresses of living with a disability for a few days each year,” says Stephanie. “I just really wanted to give back and help Jett provide Camp Promise to even more individuals! This event is my project to do exactly that.”

Volunteers who attend Camp Promise Retreat – Ohio as counselors also showed up to Stephanie’s event to provide support and assist in logistics. The event raised over $6,600 to directly support Camp Promise programs.

“Camp Promise is also a mental health reset for me to just be with other people who understand what I go through on a regular basis. Camp Promise Retreat is what I am looking forward to most this summer,” says Stephanie.

Jackie added, “We want to support Jett Foundation and Camp Promise for the opportunities to engage with campers and volunteers, learn new hobbies, participate in camp activities, and explore resources for support in educational sessions. Camp is an incredible, supportive community that provides unmatched experiences to explore, learn and grow for individuals with Duchenne and other neuromuscular disorders.”

A special thank you to the event’s $500 & $1,000 Sponsors:

  • Sheila and Tony Dicioccio $1,000
  • Stride Mobility $500
  • SJS Enterprise $500
