For the fourth year in a row, Jett Foundation hosted an online Camp Promise Connect weekend to provide exciting and magical activities for individuals with neuromuscular disorders, regardless of ability to attend an in-person camp. From May 24-26, 2024, campers joined our team on Zoom for games, special guests, arts & crafts, jeopardy, and more.
Campers also had the option to sign up for a complimentary activity box that contained items necessary for participation in some of the weekend’s events. From gardening with egg cartons to ornament making and art classes with the pros, campers used their supplies from the comfort of their home to experience new activities with their peers.
A highly-requested element to Camp Promise Connect is hangout hours for our 16+ population. During these hangout hours, campers can connect closely with peers, share laughs, play games of their choice, and so much more.
This year, Camp Promise Connect offered “Pocket Change” segments within our hangout hours, educating 16+ campers on how to build a healthy relationship with money, formulate a proper budget for life, and other miscellaneous financial-based topics. Open conversations on diverse topics, including financial literacy, are crucial at camp. This empowers campers to grow as independent individuals.
Jett’s Camp Promise Program Director, Meghan Houston, shares: “Camp Promise Connect is a weekend we always look forward to, as we tend to see many new and returning faces interact with one another from across the country. It is the perfect recipe for coming together as a community to experience a shared love for fun and magic. I am forever grateful for our individuals and families who connect with us virtually and was especially excited to have Camp Promise Connect kick off this year’s season of camp!”
Camp Promise will also stop at seven in-person locations during our tour this summer: Washington State, Ohio, Arizona, Colorado, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and California.
