Meet Marissa, Jett Foundation’s New Marketing & Communications Manager

August 21, 2026

Jett Foundation is excited to welcome Marissa Barrett as our new Marketing and Communications Manager.

Since a young age, Marissa has had a passion for writing and using her creativity to make a difference in people’s lives. In 2024 she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in media and communications from Johnson & Wales University. After graduating, she began working in the news industry as a digital producer in New Hampshire, writing thousands of web stories and posting on social media to inform audiences about everything happening locally and around the world.

She then chose to move closer to her family in Rhode Island and turn to a position in nonprofit communications. Family has always been one of the most important parts of Marissa’s life. Growing up with a cousin who has cerebral palsy gave her a first-hand view of the strengths and challenges families affected by disabilities face every day.

When she learned about Jett Foundation’s mission, she was drawn to the chance to support those navigating Duchenne muscular dystrophy and help spread awareness about the impact it has on people’s lives. “As Jett Foundation’s new Marketing and Communications Manager, my goal is to help individuals and families affected by Duchenne know they’re never alone while also sharing their stories in ways that educate and inspire others,” Marissa says.

Outside of work, Marissa enjoys spending time with her dachshund, Millie, hitting the gym, and  experimenting in the kitchen. She recently discovered a love for baking sourdough and is having fun learning the craft, with her kitchen often filled with the smell of freshly baked bread and cookies. Fun fact: Marissa is an identical twin!

Marissa is especially excited to get involved with the Jett Foundation community and looks forward to attending Camp Promise next summer. She hopes to use her experience to help Jett Foundation continue connecting families with the resources they need while building an inclusive, barrier-free environment.
