Join Jett Foundation’s First-Ever Virtual JettRide 2020!

July 2, 2020

In 2007, Jett Foundation started JettRide–a cross country cycle tour for teens–to spread awareness, unite families, and inspire others to fight Duchenne muscular dystrophy. JettRiders consist of teenage siblings, relatives, and friends of individuals living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. In July 2020, what would have been JettRide’s 13th annual expedition, we had planned to ride 850 miles from Nashville, Tennessee through Ohio and past the finish line in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Given the global pandemic, Jett Foundation made the difficult decision to cancel JettRide 2020, like so many other events across the nation. However, in the spirit of the JettRide, we are determined to keep our beloved tradition alive by offering the first-ever Virtual JettRide!

Beginning July 15 and ending July 31, we will be recruiting riders of all kinds from across the country to cycle remotely and help us reach our intended 850 miles. Whether it be 10 miles on your stationary bike or 100 miles on your road bike, we want you to join our team and help us reach our goal. You do not have to be a sibling or relative to join our team; all we ask is you hop on your bike and join us in our mission to fight Duchenne together.

We will be covering the 850-mile journey by logging miles in your local communities. The ride will be split into different segments each of the 17 days with a goal of raising awareness and funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

How Does it Work?

Riders will be asked to raise a minimum of $250 for the event, which will benefit Jett Foundation’s programs. Riders will choose their goal distance and complete the mileage on an indoor trainer, indoor bike (peloton, spin bike), or ride outside. Each rider must provide proof that they accomplished mileage. Submit the daily miles you rode each day by 8:00 PM to Jett Foundation via email at jettride@jettfoundation.org, where we will record and log your total mileag

Here’s How to Start:

  • Select how many miles you want to ride.
  • Fill out an Interest Form on Jett Foundation’s website.

You will receive a welcome packet from us with all the instructions you need to get riding.

Jett Foundation serves a community that is already financially vulnerable and isolated, even before COVID-19. Your efforts will help us continue to offer incredible programming and invaluable resources to families in the Duchenne muscular dystrophy community, both now, virtually, and later, when we are able to return to our normal activities. The families we partner with throughout the year need your support now more than ever. In this crazy time, we hope our community can pedal the miles together in our fight against Duchenne. We look forward to celebrating your successes!
