Seventeen athletes made up Team Jett at the 51st running of the historic Falmouth Road Race, a 7-mile running course along the scenic coast of Falmouth in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This year’s race was Team Jett’s fourth appearance in Falmouth where athletes raised important funds and awareness for individuals and families impacted by Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
The 51st edition of the Falmouth Road Race saw over 10,000 runners from across the globe on one starting line, many who ran and raised funds for nonprofit and charity organizations. Team Jett’s Falmouth participants have raised over $18,000 and counting this year that will directly support programs and resources offered by Jett Foundation for families impacted by Duchenne. You can visit our team’s fundraising page here.
Luke Grady, a member of Team Jett’s lineup, was motivated to join this year’s team on behalf of his brother who lives with muscular dystrophy. He says, “My experience in Falmouth was incredible. This was my first ever road race and certainly not my last as I had such a good time. Running with Team Jett meant a lot to me because my brother has muscular dystrophy. Being able to raise money for a great foundation that does a lot for the people and families impacted by muscular dystrophy, like Jett Foundation, means the world to me.”
Luke completed the race with a time of 57:59.
Celina Jones works as a Physical Therapist at the UMass Duchenne muscular dystrophy clinic in Worcester, MA, and ran for the first time with Team Jett at this year’s race. She shares, “Without organizations like Jett Foundation, we wouldn’t be able to serve hundreds of DMD patients in an interdisciplinary clinic. Jett Foundation has such incredible resources. I often direct my patients to Camp Promise or to apply for the assistance in funding an accessible van. I am so proud to have run the Falmouth Road Race for such and incredible foundation and hope to run for them again in the future!”
Mile 6 roared loud yet again as our Jett red cheer squad showed up to support our runners. Jett’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Zac Bentley, raced at Falmouth for the second year in a row and says, “There is nothing more rewarding than rounding the bend at mile 6 and receiving a wave of support from our community and supporters. The word “pride” can’t do enough justice for how I feel to be part of this team and organization every day.”
Team Jett will also participate in the Gals for Cal triathlon this September 10 and Rodman Ride for Kids this September 23. We are excited for these events and more in the years to come and hope you will consider joining us.
Team Jett athletic events would not be possible without our sponsors. Thank you to Sarepta Therapeutics, Solid Biosciences, Edgewise Therapeutics, JB’s Keys to DMD, and REQ Inc. for their continued support.
