Set against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, Camp Promise – Rockies brought together our incredible community of adults with neuromuscular disorders this past July for a week filled with adventure, laughter, and lifelong connections. From thrilling outdoor challenges to creative evening events, this year was packed with barrier-free fun that allowed campers to push limits, try new things, and experience the pure joy of camp.
Each themed day brought a fresh wave of excitement to the Rockies. Campers stepped back in time for a Renaissance-themed day, traveled back to the decade of neon for Radical ’80s day—complete with 80s Singo Bingo and a visit from groovy petting goats—and channeled their inner characters for Superheroes vs. Villains day. The week’s high-energy activities offered something for everyone: adaptive ziplining through the mountain air, fishing, archery, and swimming at the pool. Creativity was on full display during arts and crafts and at the Camp Promise “tattoo parlor,” where professional tattoo artists stopped by to create custom Sharpie body art for campers.
Interactive programming kept the energy soaring all week long, day and night. Campers tested their luck in an exciting game of Deal or No Deal, sang their hearts out during a karaoke mocktail bar night, and engaged in a thrilling game of Camp Whodunit, generously hosted by our partners at Edgewise. Superheroes vs. Villains day was an absolute highlight, kicking off in the afternoon with Kangaroo Court—a hilarious court of peers judging friendly camp “transgressions” with lighthearted prank punishments—followed by a delicious pizza party dinner and a festive “Under the Sea” dance to close out the night. Beyond the games and festivities, the week provided meaningful moments of connection, including an inspiring “Who Do You Want to Be?” talk led by camper Tymber, which sparked deep conversations and reflection.
What makes Camp Promise so special is how seamlessly everyone comes together as a community. This year was no exception for Jett Foundation’s President & CEO, Eric, who traded his leadership desk for cabin life once again. Returning each summer to serve on the ground as a counselor in the Black Cabin, Eric shared: “Coming back to camp each summer as a cabin counselor is a tradition I treasure deeply. Stepping away from my day-to-day role and into the Black Cabin is an annual reminder of what Camp Promise is truly all about. Being right there alongside our campers year after year—sharing laughs, navigating activities, and deepening these genuine connections—is extraordinarily rewarding. The energy, resilience, and joy in the Rockies this year were unmatched, and I’m honored to be part of a community that creates these life-changing experiences summer after summer.”
