It’s A Match!

March 3, 2016

We’re excited to announce that Camp Promise has been chosen by Match to receive a $10,000 Give From Your Heart grant! You might know Match as the world’s largest dating site, but they also empower employees to build relationships in their communities through their Give From Your Heart charitable program.

Long time camp supporter and Match employee, Lakshmi Rengarajan, championed this gift. Lakshmi has attended fundraisers and helped out behind-the-scenes to support Camp Promise since 2012, and ever since volunteering in-person at Camp Promise-West last summer, says she has been motivated to find new ways of supporting the program. “I haven’t stopped thinking about my time at Camp Promise last summer, the impact it had on my camper and on me was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I love that at Camp Promise, everything is possible.

Though we were shocked to receive the news about the grant, we are not surprised by Lakshmi’s initiative. Not only did she donate a year’s worth of speaking fees before setting foot at camp, she also used her vacation time to volunteer as a one-on-one counselor for a 17-year-old camper with muscular dystrophy, and dyed her hair purple to match her cabin color. Lakshmi’s passion knows no bounds and we’re lucky, in so many ways, to have her—and Match—on our team.

We believe strongly that the magic of camp can make anything possible, and this grant will allow us to provide new and exciting programming opportunities and experiences as we continue to expand our campers’ realms of possibility.

Thank you, Match!
