Help the Cammarata Family Fund an Accessible Vehicle

Creating Space for Independence, Safety, and What’s Next

For the Cammarata family, every outing requires careful planning, physical effort, and compromise. But, at the center of it all is Beck, a determined high school student living life to the fullest with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Duchenne is a progressive neuromuscular disorder causing a lack of motor, pulmonary, and cardiac function. As Duchenne progresses, mobility needs increase, and safe, accessible transportation becomes essential, not optional.

Day to day, Beck attends high school, where he stays actively involved in student life. Because his family cannot transport his power wheelchair, Beck is forced to leave his power chair at school, relying on less supportive options outside of the classroom. Anywhere the family goes requires breaking down equipment and carefully packing it into their vehicle, often leaving no room for anything else.

Beck plays power soccer, a sport he loves, but even this passion comes with challenges. His dad must physically lift Beck’s heavy soccer chair into the back of their vehicle, a task that has taken a serious toll on his body over time. The family often struggles just to find enough space for Beck’s equipment and their everyday needs, and for longer trips, they sometimes need to pull a trailer solely to transport Beck’s power wheelchair.

Despite these barriers, Beck remains deeply involved in his school community. He manages his high school’s volleyball and basketball teams, traveling when possible to support his peers. Each trip, however, is complicated by transportation limitations, making something as simple as attending a game far more exhausting than it should be.

An accessible vehicle would change everything.

With a wheelchair-accessible van, Beck could travel safely and comfortably in his power chair without dismantling equipment or risking injury to his family. It would eliminate the need for trailers, reduce physical strain on his dad, and allow Beck to fully participate in school activities, sports, and social life without constant logistical hurdles.

Most importantly, Beck dreams of driving himself one day. Having an accessible vehicle is a critical step toward that independence: the ultimate freedom to go where he wants, when he wants, on his own terms.

Through Jett Foundation’s Accessible Vehicle Fund, the Cammarata family is working to raise half or more of the cost of their accessible vehicle. Once their goal is reached, Jett Foundation will step in to cover the remaining cost and coordinate the delivery of a vehicle that meets Beck’s needs today and into the future.

You can help Beck attain the freedom and independence he deserves by contributing toward his fundraising goal below!

All donations to Jett Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed under applicable law and is an unrestricted contribution to the Jett Giving Fund. The family is working to raise half the funds needed for their van or more; when they reach their goal, Jett Foundation will cover the remaining costs and coordinate purchase and delivery of the vehicle.
