Help the Flynn Family Fund an Accessible Vehicle

Help the Flynn Family Hit the Road Safely

Sophia Flynn is not only a devoted mother to her 18-year-old son, Aedyn, she’s also a Jett Foundation Community Ambassador with a heart for helping families navigate a Duchenne muscular dystrophy journey. Now, Sophia is turning to her community for support as her family works to secure an accessible vehicle through Jett Foundation’s Accessible Vehicle Fund.

Aedyn was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in 2013 and has been fully dependent on his power wheelchair for mobility for several years. Duchenne is a progressive neuromuscular disorder that causes a lack of motor, pulmonary, and cardiac function.

Despite his boundless curiosity, love of video games, movies, and Lego building, and passion for trying new foods, Aedyn often feels confined to home because their current vehicle is no longer reliable or safe for his needs. Sophia worries constantly about the physical risks every time they leave home.

Sophia, a single mom working two jobs, manages these challenges with the help of her mother, Ellen, who moved in to support their family. Even so, the financial and logistical strain of transportation is heavy. An accessible vehicle would bring not just reliability, but freedom. It would allow Aedyn to finally attend Jett Foundation’s Camp Promise, go on family vacations, and travel safely to medical appointments without the constant worry that comes with their current van.

Sophia shares, “Being accepted into [the Accessible Vehicle Fund] would help not just with the stress of making payments, but with the reassurance that we are much safer. It would help us feel secure as we go about our daily activities and future travels.”

As Accessible Vehicle Fund participants, the Flynn family is working to raise half or more of the funds for their accessible vehicle. Once they reach their goal, Jett Foundation will step in to cover remaining costs and coordinate purchase and delivery of the vehicle.

By contributing to the Flynn family’s Accessible Vehicle Fund goal, you can help them gain mobility, independence, and peace of mind, a gift that extends far beyond the road.

Support the Flynn family today and help turn their daily journeys into safe, joyful adventures!

All donations to Jett Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed under applicable law and is an unrestricted contribution to the Jett Giving Fund. The family is working to raise half the funds needed for their van or more; when they reach their goal, Jett Foundation will cover the remaining costs and coordinate purchase and delivery of the vehicle.
