Fundraising for an Accessible Van

A boy with dreams, a humorous personality, determination, and joy for life – but with one major obstacle: safe and accessible transportation while living full-time in a power wheelchair.
Liam Goss is 12 years old living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a progressive neuromuscular disorder causing a loss of motor, pulmonary, and cardiac function. He is cared for by his parents, Collin and Crystal, in Grapevine, Texas. Liam also has an older brother, Logan, an older sister, Samantha, and built-in best friends through two dogs and one cat.
When Liam was six years old, his parents and teachers noticed he couldn’t physically keep up with his peers. Multiple medical appointments later, Liam was diagnosed with Duchenne. “After his diagnosis, Liam rapidly declined in mobility, requiring his father and I to help him around the house,” says Crystal. “Now, only Collin can lift Liam. He requires his power wheelchair full time so Collin has to manually lift him in and out of our car.”
The family of five cannot fit together in one of their vehicles, in addition to Liam needing more room and accessibility for his power wheelchair. They also avoid leaving the home if it rains, including for school, because his power wheelchair will be exposed on a trailer.
Through conferences and community connections, the Goss family found the team at Jett Foundation. Now, as participants in the Accessible Vehicle Fund branch of the Jett Giving Fund, Liam and his family are aiming to raise half or more of the necessary funds for their accessible vehicle before Jett Foundation covers the remaining expenses and purchases the vehicle outright.

Crystal shares, “I just can’t wait to be able to take my son places by myself again. Right now, I can’t go to the store or grab a cup of coffee with Liam by myself and that breaks my heart. Your support toward our family and a kid with lots of spirit will go a long way.”
The Goss family has met their fundraising goal and received accessible transportation thanks to supporters like you! You can still support our program and future program participants with a gift to Jett Foundation today:
