Volunteer Requirements & Application Process

Each year, we recruit volunteers who see eye to eye with our mission, who are trustworthy and creative, and who are comfortable wearing lots of hats. We’re looking for individuals strong in character, personality and integrity, those who are mature and responsible, and people who like working as part of a team.

  • Virtual Weekend (13+): May 15-17 via Zoom
  • West (13+): June 7-11 in Mount Vernon, WA (volunteers June 6)
  • Ohio (18+): June 29-July 2 in Akron, OH (volunteers June 28)
  • Rockies (13+): July 19-23 in Empire, CO (volunteers July 18)
  • Arizona (18+): July 23-26 in Payson, AZ (volunteers July 22)
  • Southeast (13+): August 6-9 in Marietta, SC (volunteers August 6)
  • East (13+): August 9-13 in Brackney, PA (volunteers August 8)
  • SoCal (18+): October 1-4 in Crestline, CA (volunteers September 30)

Requirements

  1. Be at least 18 years of age by the first day of your camp session.
  2. Complete an application and meet all posted deadlines.
  3. Understand and accept the Camp Promise mission and Participation Agreement (found in your application).
  4. For counselors and Unit Leaders, attend the entire length of the camp session.
  5. Attend staff orientation held the day before campers arrive (mandatory for both new AND returning volunteers).

Step 1: Online Application

All applicants, including returning volunteers, must complete an online application. As part of this online application, you will be asked to upload the following:

  • Current photo
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Copy of your health insurance card(s) (front & back)

Step 2: Medical Documents

Final hiring is also contingent upon submission of your medical documents. These forms are required from all new volunteers and they are good for two years. If you are a returning applicant who submitted these forms last year, please notify our office and we will look up your medical documents from last year.

  • Signed and completed Medical Form

  • Copy of volunteer’s immunization records

  • Additional medical directives (optional)

Medical documents must be filled out and submitted 10 weeks prior to the start of your camp.

Step 3: Interview With Our Leadership Team

Returning counselor interviews are optional, but Jett Foundation reserves the right to interview any applicant as deemed necessary to provide the best care to our campers. Any counselor is also welcome to schedule an interview with Camp Promise Leadership as part of the application process.

Step 4: Background Check

A background Check must be completed before acceptance to camp. You will receive an email invite requesting that you complete the necessary info needed. You will receive all the information needed to complete the background check after your interview is complete.

Step 5: Camp Welcome Packet

Accepted volunteers will receive a Welcome Packet via email that includes staff handbook, list of theme days, packing list, and directions to camp.
