Jett Foundation’s Camp Promise Hosts Virtual Camp Weekend

September 28, 2023

For the fourth consecutive year, Jett Foundation hosted a virtual Camp Promise Connect experience for at-home campers across the nation. Camp Promise Connect provides individuals with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and other select neuromuscular disorders a virtual summer camp experience of the same high quality that is delivered on the ground at camp.

During a Camp Connect experience, campers have the opportunity to join many virtual activities and sessions. They also have the ability to participate virtually with Camp Connect Boxes that are sent to registered participants. Boxes contain materials to create recipes, tools for exploring new habitats, gadgets campers can keep with them throughout the year, and more fun.

This year, Jett Foundation welcomed over 70 registered campers and multiple volunteers throughout four days of magic on September 15-18. Day 1 kicked us off as “Alien Invasion Day,” containing an alien pudding slime activity, Out of This World Trivia, an educational hangout hour for our 16+ campers, and evening games.

As the weekend rolled on, campers explored critters, animals, and plants, wrote songs as a team, had a sugar cookie bake-off, discussed adult relationships with their 16+ peers, had a disco dance party, and much more with specialty vendors and the Camp Promise team.

Duncan Scribner, a long-time Camp Promise attendee at both in-person and virtual camps, shares: “I really love joining Camp Connect and just keeping everyone entertained and smiling. I especially like the games we play because it clicks for me and I don’t have to think twice about having fun.”

He also says, “I get to see new faces and other times meet new ones. Camp Promise always gives me a good vibe; the vibe tells me that everyone is having fun. I want to thank Camp Promise for letting me jump on and sending me a box!”

Niki Benfield, Camp Promise Operations Director, says, “Our 2023 Camp Promise Connect was a huge success! As campers from across the country experience new things from the comfort of their own homes with friends within the Camp Promise community, we love seeing our impact continue to grow. From our daily hands-on activities to the 16+ Late Night Games, hours of fun were had once again this year.”

Jett Foundation looks forward to hosting more Camp Connect virtual events throughout the year; please stay tuned to events calendar to join us in the near future!

Camp experiences would not be possible without our dedicated sponsors. Thank you to Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, Flatley Foundation, Sarepta Therapeutics, Alexion Charitable Foundation, Italfarmaco, and PTC Therapeutics for their continued support.

Experience the magic this summer!
