Keynote Speaker: Kevin Counterman

Kevin Counterman, DO, is a neurology resident at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He earned his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2023, following his undergraduate studies at Northeastern University.

Originally from Canton, Massachusetts, Kevin’s older brother, Michael, had Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Michael’s involvement with the Jett Foundation has shaped Dr. Counterman’s clinical and personal interests. Outside of medicine, he enjoys reading and writing, and is the author of the self-published book, Breakfall, centered on his brother’s experiences with Duchenne. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Kathy, as well as their dog, Luka, and cat, Ellie.

Keynote Speaker: Matthew Stelmach

Matthew Stelmach is a dedicated business professional and proud graduate of Worcester State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. As the Business Administrator for Advanced Energy Concepts, Matt brings organization, problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic to every project. Living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, he approaches life with resilience, heart, and determination, never letting challenges define his limits.

Beyond his professional achievements, Matt’s world revolves around what truly matters: his family, his friends, and the music that inspires him daily. Whether connecting with loved ones or finding energy in a great song, he values the people and passions that make his life filled with meaning and love.
