Jett Foundation Awards Equipment Assistance for Massachusetts Family Impacted by Duchenne

April 29, 2024

Massachusetts residents Natalie, Paul and their 29-year-old son Max Gaudenzi have been navigating a life with Duchenne muscular dystrophy since Max was diagnosed at a young age. A progressive neuromuscular disorder causing a lack of motor, pulmonary, and cardiac function, Duchenne creates many challenges for families, including barriers to obtaining medical and accessibility equipment.

Jett Foundation’s Equipment Assistance branch of the Jett Giving Fund is available to families in the Duchenne community to provide financial assistance for medical and accessibility items. These items are often too expensive or not covered by insurance.

The Gaudenzi Family recently faced financial and employment difficulties, causing them to reach out to Jett Foundation for assistance. Natalie shares, “We face insurmountable challenges every day, not only healthcare-related but through work, life, and the increased cost associated with Max’s care. Max has many life-sustaining machines that need power and since we live in New England, when we lose power, we are not able to stay safe in our home.”

Empowering families is at the heart of Jett Foundation’s mission. Jett Foundation’s recent grant award to the Gaudenzi Family supplied funds toward the cost of a home generator and provided Max with the peace of mind and security he deserves. “The help that Jett Foundation has given us is not only monetary, but reduces stress and gives us all peace of mind,” says Natalie. “Jett Foundation’s support over the years gives families the chance to go to Camp Promise, attend support groups, and simply be a human!”

Without our generous sponsors and donors, supporting families in the Duchenne community, like the Gaudenzi Family, would not be possible. A special thank you to Cure Dale’s Duchenne, Finn’s Friends, the Flatley Foundation, the Killian Family, Catalyst Pharmaceuticals, Kindness Over Muscular Dystrophy, Michael’s Cause, Ryan’s Quest, and Sarepta Therapeutics.

You can help us to support more families through the three branches of Jett Giving Fund: the Accessible Vehicle Fund, Emergency Fund, and Equipment Assistance Fund. Donate today or learn more about becoming a sponsor by emailing info@jettfoundation.org.
