In honor of Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday, and this season of thankfulness, we’re excited to share with you a blog post from Trey, a seven-year veteran camper at Camp Promise-East. After aging out of other camps for people with muscular dystrophy, Trey now attends Camp Promise and shared this piece with us after camp last year to show us what camp means to him and how thankful he is to be able to attend.

This year was a record breaking year for Camp Promise! We had our largest numbers of campers and volunteers EVER. More people meant more fun activities, bigger pranks, and some of the best theme days we have ever had.

As we get ready for our last camp of the season, Camp Promise-West, we’re overcome with memories of Camp Promise-East and Camp Promise-Rockies. It’s been an incredible summer with so many returning campers and staff, as well as many new faces who quickly became friends.

As we get ready for one of our biggest camp seasons ever, we have collected a few words of wisdom from our veteran staff to help make this first year for new staff as easy and fun as possible. Here’s what they have to say.

Meet Susan Friedman, a volunteer who was a counselor at Camp Promise in 2015. She was unable to attend camp in 2016 because that was the summer she began a legendary journey where she hiked more than 1,000 miles and raised almost $500 for Camp Promise.

Have you met Meghan, our new Camp Apprentice? As you know, we love making up words, so it should come as no surprise that we often call her our Campprentice. Check out our interview with Meghan to learn more about her before you meet her at camp this summer!

In honor of National Archery Day, we’re excited to share with you the story of Amin Lakhani, who discovered his passion for archery at Camp Promise.

Meet Stephanie-Lynn, a volunteer lifeguard at Camp Promise-West. She supervised all of our water activities, including swimming in our indoor heated pool and hot tub, as well as boating and fishing on our waterfront, in 2012 and 2013.

We are thrilled to announce that we have been chosen as 1 of 7 summer camps in the country selected to participate in THE LUNA PROJECT, a study by The Stanford Center for Sleep Research.
