It’s definitely fall and if you’re anything like us, we’ve got a case of the post-camp blues. We’re sure you’ve heard of these and have most likely experienced them yourself. They can hit like a wrecking ball and can linger for days, weeks, and months after camp. So, here’s some tried and true tips and tricks to help you combat those pesky post-camp blues!

Check out this guest post by Jenna Dwy, CP2018 Intern: Wow! It’s hard to believe that summer has finally come to an end and with it, my internship with Camp Promise. It was a dynamic summer full of new ideas, projects, friends, teammates, and a better version of myself.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a month since we were all together at CPW2018. Our 10th Birthday year set the bar pretty high for other milestone years, but it’s a challenge we’re ready to take on. For those of you who weren’t there (and those of you who were), we thought it would be fun to take a look back at the week and what made it so special.

Can you believe it’s already been over a week since we all gathered at Camp Promise-Rockies in Georgetown, CO? Now that we’ve all done laundry, slept in our own beds, and had our favorite foods again, it’s time to reflect on another successful session of camp.

Camp Promise is giving back and we’ll be hosting a food drive at Camp Promise-West this summer. We have been the beneficiary of so much support over the years and we invite you to join us in paying it forward!

If you’re wondering whether campers can bring their service dogs to Camp Promise, the answer is generally yes! We’ve had lots of service dogs on duty at camp in the past and have six (6) recommendations for those who want to bring their dog along.

Camp Promise-East 2018 was nothing short of extraordinary! It was so much fun to see old friends and meet lots of new faces. The whole week felt like one big exclamation mark because the energy was high and everyone’s spirit soared all week long.

This summer, Camp Promise-West will host its 10th session of camp. In preparation for this, we’ve done a lot of digging through old notes and photos and it’s hard not to get nostalgic.

Not sure what to pack for camp? We asked our veteran campers what they bring every summer to make them feel more comfortable during their week at Camp Promise. From Mountain Dew soft drinks to stuffed animals and everything in between, we have discovered the most commonly packed special items for camp.

As a full-time, single mother to a son with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Camp Promise has been the only answer to respite care that my son and I both desperately need. For four days in a row, once a year Zak gets to be free to be himself and I, I get to be anything besides a caregiver.

It’s officially summer here at Camp Promise and our team has grown by one. You might recognize her from her days as a Unit Leader, so join us in welcoming Jenna Dwy to our team as this summer’s intern!
